If you are working virtually, you are now finding this to be the new norm for most of us. When Covid hit us in March of 2020, so many people lost their jobs. Some of us were fortunate to keep our jobs, but we had to transfer from our offices to our homes. This was a very tough task for many parents with school-aged children who were also doing schoolwork from home.
The best way to have a positive and productive environment is to find an area of your home that is quiet and separate. This is the ideal space to set up your office with all of your necessary equipment and tools that you use daily (just like you would if you had a desk in an actual office). Feel free to add some special touches! Find your favorite photos of friends and family, use curtains that you enjoy, or a shelf lined with plants. Make this space feel cozy to be in, and make it feel like your own!
Once you have this area set up, keep it organized (again just like you would if you were in an actual office space). Set your alarm each day for your working start time. Once you are up, get dressed as if you were going to work. If you stay in your pajamas, you might not have the right mindset to actually do work. You can get away with wearing very casual attire, but do not stay in your pajamas – this is a definite no-no.
Work through your daily tasks staying focused and accurate. It might help you to set up an actual schedule for each task and log that time so that you are completing each task that is due on any particular day.
