You don’t want to ask applicants how many children do you have? Are you married? What is your religion? Do you have a driver’s license?
You want to ask questions that are job related? You would provide a scenario and then ask if they could perform that task.
For example, if the job routinely requires the lifting of an 80-pound air pack (as in the case of a firefighter), you will provide the scenario and ask if the individual would be able to do that task.
Another good question would be, this is what your schedule would be, is there any time during this schedule that you would not be able to work? If you are able to accommodate the changes, you can if not, then the person is not the right fit for the position.
