There are many different types of employment applications. Your first step is to ensure the application is not asking questions that could get you in trouble.
Second, you want to make sure you are gathering enough information to make a sound decision on whether you want to pursue the applicant. You neither want to waste your time, nor the applicant’s time.
You can also get really sophisticated and work with software that would enable you to weed out applicants based on how they answer the questions on the application. You can assign points to the questions and come up with a rating scale.
