Well, your first step in workforce planning is know who you currently have, know what their skills and abilities are, know who’s coming and going. You know, you don’t always know specifically, but you, you might have a head of marketing who’s 70 years old, you know, you’re going to be replacing them.
Who’s on your team that has the skills that can step into that. position. So you want to do succession planning. You don’t want to just figure out what you’re going to do when somebody says, “Oh, it’s time for me to retire.” You want to look, you want to analyze your workforce. You want to know who you have, who can step into those roles, and who you don’t have.
And when you’re hiring, then you want to be looking for the people who will have the skills that will then be able to be successful in moving into those positions when, when people either retire or move on.
