In our last team meeting in April, we reviewed the May calendar and noticed that Cinco de Mayo was the first upcoming holiday in May. One of us asked the question if we wanted to do something fun for our clients for that holiday. How about a team video? Everyone loved the idea, and the homework was to think about a brief message that everyone of us would say during the video. At the next team meeting, we recorded the video – and it was so much fun; we had a blast! The video was sent to our clients on the 5th of May. Within minutes, we received amazing feedback from our clients who enjoyed watching the video very much. We decided to do these kinds of videos more often.
We save links to videos or other fun, inspirational files and go back to them occasionally. It is fun to watch or read them again. Especially when we work on a tough project or something difficult to solve that drains our energy or gets us close to frustration, visiting something that was so much fun and inspirational raises the mood and just makes things so much easier. When it creates a laughter or brings back a fun memory, it makes us feel better and helps us to get out of a hole.
Fun is so important for a healthy work environment. It nurtures the team culture, it is uplifting for everyone involved, and it raises productivity.
It does not take much to create a fun moment. When was the last time you created a fun moment at work?
