If there’s one thing you’ll quickly learn about Barbara Flynn, it’s that she loves people just as much as she loves business. With more than 30 years of experience in business management, Barbara has built companies, mentored leaders, and helped business owners turn their dreams into well-run realities.
Her career began in Human Resources at a high-tech electronics manufacturer for the aerospace industry, where she developed compensation and career programs long before “HR strategy” was even a buzzword. But it didn’t take long for Barbara’s entrepreneurial spirit to shine. She went on to start her own international fashion accessory company, growing it from a kitchen-table idea into a $5 million global operation with offices in London and the Philippines.
After several years in the sparkle of jewelry design, Barbara moved into the world of numbers and leadership as Controller for a $23 million family entertainment company, managing both accounting and HR for hundreds of employees nationwide.
Then, in 2000, she found her true calling — helping other business owners build strong, people-focused organizations — and People First, Inc. was born. Today, Barbara and her team provide bookkeeping, payroll, and HR support to clients across the country, guided by her favorite principle: treat every client’s business as if it were your own.
Along the way, Barbara has earned honors such as Volunteer of the Year, Board Member of the Year, and President of the Human Resource Association of Broward County, plus nominations for Businesswoman of the Year and HR Professional of the Year. She also teaches at Florida Atlantic University and Barry University, where she helps shape the next generation of HR leaders.
