While a job description will say “may be required to perform other duties as assigned,” these added skills did cost the employee additional money to learn those skills, and so they would be correct in that case. But with a proper job description, the employee would have no case to stand on.

If there was no job description, or the employee had been hired and this was added, then the employee does have a case because they’re now asked to do more than their job description said.
