Oh, I love this one. That boss is so wrong.
Veronica, I’m assuming is non-exempt. If a non-exempt employee is asked a question while they are on their lunch break, they need to be paid. So Veronica’s asking for extra time, but technically she should be paid for the time that she’s working while she’s on her unpaid lunch. So the boss needs to understand that and leave her alone for her hour lunch break.
Otherwise, she needs to understand that Veronica is back on the clock and will probably get paid overtime for that time that the boss is interrupting her.
